Administrator – Part-time, permanent (REF 111)

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for a part-time, permanent Administrator to work with the Property Services Team.

Working 16 hours a week, you will provide support administrative support to the Property Services Team to assist with the delivery of an efficient and effective general maintenance and facilities support service to all historic and service properties owned by the Trust. You will provide an exceptional experience for customers from the moment of first contact and champion a high standard of general maintenance and presentation.

To be successful in this role, you will have administrative experience within a building, servicing or manufacturing environment and experience of working with contractors or trade specialists. You should have a NVQ in Administration/IT and/or a European Computer Driving License.

You will be approachable with good listening and verbal communication skills and be able to prioritise, whilst delivering consistent high standards. You should have a willingness to assist and learn in any area of Property Services work.

Assistant Chef – Hall’s Croft – full-time, permanent (REF 99)

The Trust is looking for a full-time, permanent Assistant Chef to join the Cafe team at Hall's Croft Cafe.

You will prepare food and drinks to the required service standards, paying attention to portion control, quality and presentation. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in the creation and costing of new food items, have involvement in the menu design for special events, and be a vital part of the Chef team preparing high quality food for those special events.

To be successful in this role you should have experience of working in a commercial kitchen, have strong food knowledge, be aware of food hygiene and kitchen standards. You should have a genuine interest and passion for food, and be able to work as part of a small team and also independently. You should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to manage situations as they arise to make sure our customers are not impacted.

Catering Assistant – Hall’s Croft – Part time, fixed term contract (REF 101)

The Trust is looking for a part-time Catering Assistant to join the Cafe team at Hall’s Croft for the summer season.

Working 20 hours per week you will ensure that visitors receive a great service, in an efficient and timely manner, and that they have a memorable visit. To be successful in this role you will have experience of working as part of a team in a busy cafe or restaurant environment and be motivated to deliver excellent customer service.

The closing date for the position is Wednesday 21st February 2018.

 

Catering Assistant – Mary Arden's Farm – Casual contract. (REF 109)

The Trust is looking for a Catering Assistant to join the Café team at Mary Arden's Farm for the summer season.

You will ensure visitors receive a great service, in an efficient and timely manner and that they have a memorable visit. You will have experience of working in a busy cafe or restaurant and be motivated to deliver excellent customer service. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with other staff in a professional manner. 

The post holder needs to be available to work over seven days and Bank Holidays.

The closing date for this role is Monday 5th February 2018.

 

Catering Assistant – Mary Arden's Farm – part-time, fixed term contracts. (REF 106)

The Trust is looking for three part-time Catering Assistants to join the Cafe team at Mary Arden's Farm for the summer season.

Working either 20, 16 or 5 hours per week you will ensure visitors receive a great service, in an efficient and timely manner and that they have a memorable visit. You will have experience of working in a busy cafe or restaurant and be motivated to deliver excellent customer service. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with other staff in a professional manner. 

The post holders will need to be available to work over seven days and Bank Holidays.

The closing date for these roles is Monday 5th February 2018.

 

Cleaner – Henley Street sites - part-time, fixed-term contract (REF 122)

The Trust is looking to recruit a part-time Cleaner to work at the Henley Street sites until Monday 30th April 2018. You will work 7:00am to 9:30am five days per week between Monday and Sunday, and you must work at least three weekends in an eight week period.

You will do the general cleaning which will include toilets, sweeping, vacuuming, moping and dusting. The essential qualities are flexibility, reliability and previous experience of cleaning.

Contracts and Compliance Manager – Full-time, permanent (REF 110)

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for a full-time, permanent Contracts and Compliance Manager to work with the Property Services team.

You will be responsible for the procurement, scheduling, monitoring and recording of our planned preventative maintenance and inspection programmes, as well as ongoing compliance programmes. You will liaise with other departments and service providers to ensure that the Helpdesk and property record managements systems are maintained and updated effectively.

To be successful in this role, you will have a demonstrable understanding and detailed knowledge of current compliance requirements applicable to public buildings, the services within them, and the safety and inspection protocols necessary to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our staff and visitors. You will have a BIFM Level 3 in Facilities management or similar and a CITB Site Supervisor or Site Management Certification. You will be approachable with good listening and verbal communication skills and able to prioritise and make confident decisions under pressure. You will be prepared to assist with emergency response and call out as required.

Events Coordinator and Duty Officer – Part-time, fixed term contract until Sunday 23rd December 2018. (REF 120)

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for two part-time Events Coordinator and Duty Officers to join the Learning Participation Team.  

As Events Coordinator and Duty Officer you will be expected to work flexible hours to cover our public events including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays where needed. When not supporting actual events the role will be responsible for the organisation and coordination needed to make the events happen under the guidance of the Informal Learning and Programmes Manager. We envisage that one role will coordinate the social media for events, and the other role will coordinate the volunteer team so experience in one or other of these areas would be useful.

General Building Assistant – Part-time, permanent (REF 112)

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for a part-time, permanent General Building Assistant to work with the Property Services team to help deliver an efficient and effective general maintenance and facilities support service to all historic and service properties owned by the Trust.

Working 16 hours a week, you will ensure that all maintenance carried out within the historic properties is traditionally and sensitively progressed, without any unnecessary intervention to historic building fabric. You will liaise with the Property Services Supervisor to identify areas where improvements can be made to health & safety, presentation and the general well-being of our visitors.

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience working within one or more of the following recognised trades: General building, stone masonry, carpenter or plasterer. You should have a current PAL IPAF Certification and a City & Guilds in a building or allied trade.

You will have basic IT skills, including both email and standard MS Office applications. You will be able to deliver high standards and have great attention to detail. This is a challenging but rewarding role and the successful applicant will contribute to the process of maintaining and preserving all the Trust’s historic and service properties to the highest standard.

HR Coordinator – Full-time, permanent (REF 125)

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking to recruit a full-time HR Coordinator to join a busy HR team. Reporting to the HR Manager, this role will be responsible for the administration and processes involved within the HR Department for the recruitment, selection and induction of all staff. In addition, you will coordinate attendees for training and development programmes, support disciplinary and grievance procedures, ensure that HR policies and procedures are understood and adhered to, and provide general support for other areas of HR as required.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in HR administration. You must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, experience of using Microsoft Office packages and have attention to detail.

Kitchen Assistant – Mary Arden’s Farm – Part-time, fixed term contract (REF 105)

The Trust is looking for a part-time Kitchen Assistant to join the team at Mary Arden’s Farm for the summer season.

Working an average of 30 hours per week, you will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of food and drink to the required standards for all customers. You will assist in all aspects of the day to day kitchen duties including cleaning and will assist the Management team in ensuring the effective operation and profitability of the Hospitality department.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in the hospitality industry, excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills. You will be approachable and able to demonstrate an ability to work with a wide range of colleagues with an enthusiastic attitude.

Lecturer in Shakespeare Studies (International - USA) – full-time, permanent

There is an opportunity for a dynamic communicator to join this creative and busy team.

Applications for the Lecturer in Shakespeare Studies (International - USA) are sought from candidates with a passion for teaching and proven experience of engaging and inspiring a wide range of audiences. Experience of teaching school, university, and leisure learners will be an advantage.  A readiness to spend up to 10 weeks per year teaching in the USA is also essential, and experience of devising and delivering digital projects will be an advantage. Candidates for this position are expected to hold a post-graduate qualification in Shakespeare (Ph.D desirable).  The position is full-time and the successful candidate would be expected to take up the role in April (or as soon as possible thereafter).

Reader Services Assistant – Shakespeare Centre – Full-time, permanent (REF 121)

The Trust is looking for a full-time Reader Services Assistant to work with the Reader Services team.

You will assist the Reader Services Coordinator in the delivery of all reader services, ensuring excellent customer service at all times. You will be responsible for answering enquiries, taking bookings for reader services and provide assistance and instruction to readers. You will also deliver talks and tours and supervise volunteers.

To be successful in this role, you will have an interest in local history, theatre and/or William Shakespeare and a willingness to learn more about both the Trust, our collections and the systems we use. You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and both accuracy and attention to detail. You will have good IT skills and be educated to at least A-Level standard.

Retail and Reception Assistant – Shakespeare’s New Place – part-time, fixed term contract (REF 125)

The Trust is recruiting a part-time Retail and Reception Assistant to support the existing team at Shakespeare’s New Place until Sunday 28th October 2018.

Reporting to the Retail and Reception Manager, you will deliver a world class welcome for all visitors and contribute towards achieving financial targets. You will be responsible for delivering excellent standards of visitor experience through a warm welcome, engaging sharing of information to enhance visitors understanding of Shakespeare’s works, life and times and for promoting the bespoke product ranges and how they link to the site of Shakespeare’s New Place.

To be successful in this role you should have retail or ticketing sales experience, be used to operating a computerised retail or ticketing system and handling cash. You should have excellent customer service skills and be able to up sell products and ticket options. You must be able to work weekdays and weekends.

Retail Sales Assistant – part-time, fixed term contract (REF 123)

The Trust is looking for a part-time Retail Sales Assistant to work an average of 14 hours per week in the Birthplace Shop from Monday 2nd April 2018 to Sunday 23rd September 2018.

During busy periods we welcome in excess of 300,000 people to our lively shop and need the help of enthusiastic team members to make their visit to Shakespeare’s Birthplace a memorable one. So if you have a love of hard work, sales, display and meeting thousands of different people from all over the world united by their love of Shakespeare’s life, work and legacy then we may have just the job for you. 

Day to day tasks will involve till operation, merchandising of displays, a fair amount of lifting/carrying heavy items, adding value to customer’s purchases and experiences, advising prospective visitors of the offer of the Trust and helping to ensure the efficient and profitable operation of the Birthplace Shop. 

Shakespeare's Birthplace and the Gift Shop are open seven days a week, and you will be required to work weekdays, weekends and a fair share of Bank Holidays so you should be flexible and available.

Previous retail experience is beneficial. Excellent customer service, an enquiring mind and an outgoing personality are essential.

Senior Catering Assistant – Hall’s Croft – part-time, permanent contract (REF 100)

The Trust is currently looking for an experienced Senior Catering Assistant to join the team at Hall’s Croft on a permanent, part-time basis.

Working an average of 30 hours per week you will work closely with the Cafe Manager and Cafe Supervisor to ensure that visitors receive a high quality service from an efficient, profitable and enjoyable cafe.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working in a busy cafe or restaurant, you will be able to train staff, and motivate others to ensure customers are satisfied. You will have excellent customer service skills and be able to handle any situations that may arise in a calm and professional manner.

The Trust is currently looking for an experienced Senior Catering Assistant to join the Cafe team at Mary Arden’s Farm this summer season.

Working an average of 30 hours per week, you will be responsible for the preparation and service of food and drink to the required standards for all our internal and external customers. You will contribute to the financial sustainability of the Trust by ensuring that an efficient and professional service and ensure the effective operation of the Café.

To be successful within this role, you will have proven customer service experience within the hospitality industry, an ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team and be reliable and committed. You will have a level 2 in food hygiene and be able to consistently deliver high standards with attention to detail.

Visitor Reception Assistants – Shakespeare’s Birthplace - Part-time, fixed term contracts. (REF 118)

The Trust is looking for three Visitor Reception Assistants to join the team at Shakespeare’s Birthplace, working either 16.5 or 11 hours per week.

As Visitor Reception Assistant you will be responsible for delivering excellent standards of visitor experience through a warm welcome and sharing of information to enhance visitors’ understanding of the offer. You will also contribute to the financial sustainability of the Trust by ensuring that opportunities are taken to maximise sales through an efficient and professional admission process leading to increased average admissions and secondary spends.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working in a high profile, customer-facing operation, preferably a busy visitor attraction with a diverse audience. You will be used to delivering against a range of KPIs including financial and visitor satisfaction targets. A sound understanding of customer service principles, experience of using EPOS ticketing systems, and cash handling are also essential.

You will be required to work alternate weekends and Bank Holidays.
