Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall

Image of Shakespeare's tutor

Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall is renowned for being where the world’s greatest playwright attended school, but it also played an influential role in the life of his father and William’s own writing, all of which is revealed as part of the visitor experience.

Located in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall has been central to the fabric of town life for over 600 years.  It still operates for part of its life today as a school, but since its restoration in 2016 has also been welcoming visitors from across the globe to discover its fascination for themselves.  Standing in the very space where William Shakespeare went to school is a unique, spine tingling experience, as is the thought of the legacy that he would go on to create from this humble setting.

Tickets to Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall go on sale from Monday 10 May 2021 and are priced at adult £10; concession £8; child (5-16) £6.50; family (2 adults and 2 children) £27; additional child with family ticket £4.50; under 5s free.  Included in the price is an interactive lesson in the Tudor schoolroom where William Shakespeare was taught.

Tickets can be booked via:

Master Thomas Jenkins Makes Edinburgh Fringe debut: Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall will be taking part in this year’s iconic Edinburgh Fringe Festival; which is back in 2021 with an amazing line up of events taking place both on location in Edinburgh and digitally from locations around the globe to give a whole new look and feel to the world’s largest arts festival.

People will find themselves enjoying an experience that combines theatrics with interactives.  At its heart the hour long, family friendly event will introduce the character Master Thomas Jenkins, the School Master of young William Shakespeare, and his trusty Puck.  There will be an interactive Tudor lesson, a chance to find out more about the stories of this building, a Q&A session and plenty of thrills and spills along the way.

Tickets for Shakespeare’s Schoolroom Live are priced from £5 and bookable in advance here.  There are dates available throughout August, with each session starting at 5:30pm and lasting for an hour.  The recommended age is 8+.

The FourteasFourteas Cocktail picture

Cocktail- Jazzy nights at The Fourteas!

The Fourteas are thrilled to announce that it is launching two exciting evenings, every Friday and Saturday, for Cocktails and Jazzy entertainment, 6pm until 10:30 pm.

The 1940s theme will continue after sundown, providing a unique and cheerful ambiance you will not find anywhere else in town. Over the past year, we have been locked down together as a Nation, but now it is time to enjoy once again the company of family and friends with our exotic cocktails and some British Hearty Food. They, therefore, invite you to dress up smartly, swing and sway to jazz music and enjoy live performances too!

This week they are featuring the wonderful Kitten Von Mew at 7:30pm on our opening night Friday and our guest star Charlotte on Saturday 22nd at the same time.

They are excited to introduce their brand-new selection of cocktails, each containing a vintage twist, including amongst others, old time favourites such as:

Martinis, Pina Coladas, Margaritas, Mojitos, Negronis and Americanos, not forgetting those endless jugs of Pimms No 1 and Sangrias.

There will, of course be Wines, Gins, Beers and Ciders, all served until 10:30pm. The talented bartenders will be available to shake and stir your spirits!

British Hearty food will also be available until 8.30pm (last kitchen orders). They do not want you to drink on an empty stomach so the chefs will be there waiting for you!

We encourage everyone to book early to avoid being left out in the cold!  Please call 01789 293 908 to make a booking.

We ‘re meeting again ………at The Fourteas!

Shakespeares Birthday Celebrations 2021

2021 Virtual Programme

The traditional Birthday Celebrations enables Stratford-upon-Avon to extend a hand of cultural friendship to many national and international visitors who come to join in the festivities each year.  Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has once again prevented the community from physically staging the 2021 event.

However, we are confident that by next year we will be able to celebrate his 458th birthday in style, but all is not lost for this year.   The Town and District Councils have collaborated with many key stakeholders in the town to enable this virtual Birthday Celebrations to be staged.

The tribute was aired on Friday 23 April but can still be accessed via the link
